What Are The Qualifications?
I went stormchasing with a friend of mine a few days ago and we usually listen to a local station to get the warnings live as they come in.
So... during the severe event the station's reporter came on the air to announce such things as:
"I am witnessing heavy sprinkles" and "There is ponding on the roadway that isn't ponding."
What qualifications do you have to have to report on the weather for local stations? Is there any?
This isn't meant to fingerpoint... I even kept the station's identity a secret because that isn't the purpose of my post.
Thoughts? Comments?

I was totally listening to that station too! I am thinking either one of us would be well qualified to do this job. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to report it's a sunny cloudy day, right??
