There is a threat for severe thunderstorms sometime on Tuesday, most likely though during the late afternoon and evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of the area under a Slight Risk for Tuesday. The main severe threats with this system at this time appear to be large hail, damaging winds in excess of 60 MPH and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning. I tend to think that heavy rain (1-2" +) will also be a factor which may cause some flooding of creeks, streams and low lying areas. According to the SPC, even though there will be strong forcing, there may be enough of a cap in the atmosphere to prevent an outbreak of tornadoes. However, if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued for your area ALWAYS keep in mind that tornadoes can and occasionally occur with little or no advanced warning.
