February outlook

I took some time this afternoon to review that data from the long range charts. It will be very cold most of the month. But I don't see any winter storms anytime soon! I think we will luck out this month and not have any major winter storms for Springfield Metro!!!

I agree as well after looking at the long range GFS maps. All of the big storms will go well south of us. Just expect flurries here and there. Bring on spring and severe weather season!!!

To quote todays NWS Forecast Discussion, "WITH A MEAN

In other words, looks like Feb might be really cold, hopefully we will remain dry as long as the cold holds on. But I won't bet on it in an El Nino year.

Does the rest of Feb look warm or will this warm spell end soon?

Well next week will be colder, but not really too bad. The precip is over after today till in March. It's looks like me and Hailey's forecast from Feb. 8th came true. Pretty cold month for Feb and nothing much to show for in snow for Springfield. Boy we got lucky as there was snow to the north and to the south of the metro area!!
